
Ms. Jess Foo embarked upon her journey in the realm of dance at the tender age of ten, donning her inaugural pair of dancing shoes. Her dedication to the art form manifested in her attainment of predominantly Distinction grades across various levels of Ballet Examination. Guided by the esteemed Hong Kongese Ballet instructor, Ms. Chau Ming Mei, Ms. Foo honed her skills over an illustrious span of approximately 18 years at the Charming Dance Centre, culminating in the completion of her RAD Advance 2 certification under the auspices of the Royal Academy of Dance Board. Furthermore, she distinguished herself as a Distinction holder in RAD Grade 8.
In 2014, Ms. Foo fortified her pedagogical credentials by securing a teaching qualification from The Commonwealth
Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), concurrently affiliating herself with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
Subsequently, in 2018, she expanded her repertoire by acquiring certifications in Classical Dance Australia (CDA) and
the Vaganova Teaching Certificate from the Vaganova Dance Society, under the tutelage of Mr. Vladimir, Mr. Linus,
and Ms. Ivy. Her ardor for dance, serving as a conduit for self-expression, catalyzed her debut into the world of ballet
at the age of seventeen. With over a decade of teaching experience to her credit, Ms. Foo's fervor for the art form
has sculpted her into a meticulous and artistic individual, steadfast in her pursuit of perfectionism.
Throughout her tenure as an educator, she has shepherded her students to victory in numerous
prestigious competitions, accruing accolades such as championship titles in both soloist and troupe
categories at local and international events, including but not limited to the CSTD Malaysia Dance
Competition, Asia Pacific Dance Competition, Taiwan Grand Prix, Get the Beat, Canaan Dance in
Hong Kong and Malaysia, the Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition, Malaysia Grand Prix,
and Ballet Challenge. Notably, her professional dance troupe clinched the overall championship at
the local Get the Beat Dance Competition in 2019, earning the distinction of competing on a
global stage in the final competition. Additionally, Ms. Jess has been honored with individual
awards for her exemplary teaching, while Tutu Toe Dance Academy garnered recognition as a
distinguished institution at the Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition.
In addition to her role as an educator, Ms. Foo assumes the mantle of choreographer for various
dance studios and kindergarten annual concerts, garnering national acclaim for her innovative
choreographic endeavors. Grounded in the ethos of diligence and discipline, she maintains that
these virtues are indelibly intertwined with passion and self-worth, constituting the bedrock for
personal and professional growth. Her maxim, "Great Dancers are not great because of their
techniques, but they are great because of their passion," encapsulates her philosophy,
underscoring the paramount importance of passion in the pursuit of excellence.
Under Ms. Jess's tutelage, students have consistently achieved exemplary results, boasting a 100%
pass rate in examinations, with many attaining Distinction and Honors Plus distinctions. Emphasizing
positivity, dynamism, and encouragement, she fosters an environment conducive to individual skill
development, advocating for participation in diverse dance competitions and summer programs as
integral components of holistic physical and aesthetic education.
