Born and raised in Sabah, Melanie started to train vocationally in Classical Ballet and Contemporary at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Singapore, graduated with a Diploma in Dance (2012). She then further her studies in Middlesex University London and graduates with a First Class Honours in BA(Hons) Dance Performance (2018). During her studies, she has since worked with Albert Tiong, Janek Schengen, Richard Alston, Robert Cohan, Xia Hai Ying and Zhou Lin.

Upon graduation, she worked as Guest Dancer touring to perform for dance festivals in Greece and Beijing. Prior her return to Sabah, she worked as freelance dance instructor and project based dancers. She is currently working as a dance instructor whilst taking her RAD and CSTD Teaching Course at Tutu Toe Dance Academy.
